Sóc nou a Rabós. Els meus amics tenen més de setanta anys i em parlen de la vida al poble de Rabós d’abans – una vida que ja no existeix, però que encara puc imaginar. Passo el temps observant, preguntant als ancians del poble sobre allò que no sé, creant un sentiment de comunitat, organitzant fires del vi, gaudint de la vida, anant a passejar i podant amb vigor; descobrint la història de Rabós, restaurant vinyes perdudes, intentant reobrir l’únic pub del poble, venent vi, gaudint de les postes de sol, corrent per les vinyes i collint préssecs de l’arbre; per deixar que els meus pensaments fermentin quan prenc un respir, per canviar l’oli del meu tractor, per netejar la matollar, per lluitar contra els senglars, per aprendre a fer parets de pedra seca, per collir ametlles, per cuinar per a la gent que estimo, per donar classes sobre vi i vinya, per descobrir cellers antics i abandonats, per recuperar un petit sac de vi envellit, i per escoltar la natura. Embotello tot això en ampolles de 75 cl.

I’m new to Rabós. My friends are over seventy and they tell me about life in the village of Rabós as it used to be—a life that no longer exists, but that I can still imagine. I spend my time observing, asking the village elders about what I don’t know, building a sense of community, organising wine fairs, enjoying life, going for walks and pruning with vigour; discovering the history of Rabós, restoring lost vineyards, trying to reopen the village’s only pub, selling wine, savouring the sunsets, running through the vineyards and picking peaches from the tree; letting my thoughts ferment when I pause for breath, changing the oil in my tractor, clearing the scrubland, fighting off the wild boar, learning to build dry-stone walls, harvesting almonds, cooking for the people I love, teaching about wine and vines, discovering old abandoned cellars, recovering a small sack of aged wine, and listening to nature. I bottle all of this in 75 cl bottles.
